Members & Candidates

We hope everyone enjoyed the meeting with John Nunez about criminal investigation in the accounting world. The semester is quickly winding down, and we only have a few meetings left. This Friday we will be having elections for the officer positions for next semester. Everyone’s vote is important, as the elected officers are the future of this chapter. Nominees need to accept or decline the position and prepare a short speech explaining why they should be elected for the position.

Dress code is casual for Friday’s meeting. Also, no pizza at this meeting! We’re having a taco bar!

We hope everyone enjoyed his or her visit to the offices of KPMG on Friday. You should now have a strong hold on the different departments and duties of a public accountant. The officers appreciated all of your questions and your professionalism.

Our guest speaker this Friday will be John Nunez from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Treasury Department. This will be a great opportunity to see how the ever-interesting field of accounting can be used in criminal investigation related to the IRS.

The Weekly Report

November 3, 2008

Members & Candidates

As Carley mentioned during Sunday night’s meeting, the semester is quickly coming to a close, and we only have a few BAP events left. This Friday we will be having a firms panel at KPMG. If you have not decided whether you would like to do tax, audit, advisory, etc., this will be a great opportunity to help you become more informed about the various departments in public accounting. Come prepared with questions to ask as the meeting will primarily be a Q&A session.

Remember that elections are coming up November 21st. Please email Carley (cdhunzeker@unomaha.edu) to nominate yourself and/or your peers who you believe would make great officers for the spring semester.

Dress code is business casual for Friday’s meeting; remember to wear your professional name badges.

Announcements

  • Money Smart week is next week. It provides an opportunity to learn more about personal finance. Check out the schedule at www.moneysmartnebraska.org.
