The Weekly Report

October 27, 2008

Members & Candidates

We hope everyone enjoyed the lively ethics discussion at Lutz & Company on Friday night. No matter what career paths we choose, we will most certainly be faced with ethical decisions along the way. We trust you took away some valuable tools to use in these situations.

There is no BAP meeting this Friday due to Halloween, so happy Halloween! Nevertheless, we are having a chapter meeting on Sunday. The agenda of the meeting should be pretty relaxed, just focusing the Chapter to end the semester strong.

Announcements

  • Contact Carley Hunzeker, cdhunzeker@unomaha.edu, if you are interested in presenting on MavMoney during the Money Smart week. This is a great way to become more involved with BAP and the UNO community.

  • If you would like a Beta Alpha Psi T-shirt, let Jeri Bruegger (jdbruegger@unomaha.edu) know this week. She will be ordering them this weekend.

We hope everyone had a splendid fall break. Before we know it, the semester will be coming to a close. However, before it does, BAP still has some great professional-building activities ahead. This Friday, we will be meeting with Lutz & Company to learn about ethics. Lutz & Company is Nebraska’s largest locally owned certified public accounting firm and is consistently voted one of the top places to work in Omaha.

Members & Candidates

We hope everyone enjoyed meeting with BKD on Friday night and left with some valuable information on networking and building relationships with clients. Also, thanks to everyone who helped with the park cleanup on Saturday morning. The park is cleaner than ever! Remember that everyone must complete four hours of community service – including one hour of 201/202 Tutoring.

There is no BAP meeting this Friday. Study hard for mid-terms and enjoy your fall break. We will be back in action next Friday (Oct. 24th) with a meeting at Lutz & Company. There are still some great events coming up this week and we strongly encourage you all to attend.

Thanks to everyone who attended Friday night’s meeting with Bill Conley. I hope everyone walked away with some valuable information and have a greater appreciation as to why we do community service.

This Friday BKD will be coming to the UNO campus to talk to us about networking and building a client base. BKD is one of the 10 largest CPA and advisory firms in the U.S. This will give you yet another opportunity to meet with the firm and learn about the importance of networking in the accounting profession.

Dress code is Business Casual for Friday’s meeting.
