The Weekly Report

January 27, 2008

Members & Initiates

Thank you to everyone who attended the Semester Kick-Off. The BAP officers were impressed with the number and quality of initiates, and we hope all of you continue taking the required steps to complete initiation. Several BAP activities are coming up, and it is important that members plan their schedules appropriately. Bill Swanson will be speaking at Friday’s meeting (February 1) about resume preparation; everyone should bring a copy of their current resume to the meeting. Furthermore, the first resume due date is fast approaching, February 29, so make sure you spend some time updating your resume.

Dress code is business casual for Friday’s meeting.

201 Tutoring

The first 201 tutoring session is February 3 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. This is a good opportunity to review your accounting knowledge, receive community service hours, and help out aspiring accountants. Anyone who wants to participate is welcome; we are meeting in room 201 of Roskens Hall. Remember, all members are required to attend at least one tutoring session. If you have any questions, then contact me at pbarackman@mail.unomaha.edu.

Members & Initiates

The second week of school is underway; we hope everyone has adjusted to their new schedule. As usual, Beta Alpha Psi has many activities going on in the next few weeks. The Semester Kick-Off meeting is this Friday (January 25) at the Family Fun Center. Ten points will be awarded for attendance. The dress code is casual, and we have planned several fun activities.

Spring Recruiting

The success of BAP is dependent on its ability to recruit and retain talented students. As a group, we should view spring recruiting as an opportunity to strengthen our organization. Returning members can use prior experience to help potential initiates understand the benefits and requirements of joining our organization. Please make an effort to welcome the initiates at the Kick-off.

Announcements

  • Time spent contributing to the Regional Presentation will be considered community service and should be reported to me (Patrick), but it will constitute only 1 hour of the 4 hour requirement. All members are responsible for attending an additional community service event. Plan accordingly.
  • Dues must be paid by February 8, 2008. They are $30.00 for both members and initiates.
  • BAP membership applications should be completed and turned in. They can be returned to any officer, or brought to Friday’s meeting.
  • Resume preparation is coming up. If you have a free moment, then begin updating your resume.
  • The VITA Tax Preparation is coming up. Please contact Carley or Mary if you are interested in participating.
